With his social upbringing and his father's pressings to do better in the world of business, Phillip obtains his class though it's partial to his age. He has a quiet demeanor though if given the chance, tends to blossom his dry humor about the deck to any given passengers but only at appropriate times. Whenever it comes down to business however, Phillip becomes quite stern and cautious through his works. He is particalair about how things are done and how things should be done since he is often compared to his father, once a steam ship commander. He obtains a certain maturity that others his age typically wouldn't though he has no small family growing under his wing or under his wages. Phillip is family oriented though his father spent most of his time away from home, being apart of the White Star Line. His mother had always been his role model in life though he would never openly admit it. He tends to call his ships his home now that he spends more time at sea then on land which tends to make him quite the talked about bachelor. With the wealth under his name and women following him about for attention, he hasn't found the interest to settle yet. His mind remains upon his work. PHYSICAL: Phillip stands at about six feet and weighs in at one forty due to his lean but athletic figure. His hair is a thick dark brown, something rare for his age and his eyes are a very pale blue. Mostly vivid against the dark shade of his hair. He has fair skin and a fine tone of voice with a bit of an Irish accent thanks to his heritage. He has only one scar that is laced across his back that he had obtained since he was a lad from being a stoker. Phillip can be often found wearing mostly his White Star Line officer's uniform. His officer's jacket is black wool with the gold White Star Line buttons aligning it and with his rank (four bars on each cuff) denoting his rank among his crew. His pants are black along with his tie, also made of a fine wool. Among his attire, the most important part of his service attire, his visor cap. When not within the service, Phillip can be found wearing his Edwardian era tuxedo, with rank braid on the cuffs, also in black wool thanks to his wealthy accommodation. HISTORY: Phillip James Foley was born September 10th 1886 in Belfast, Ireland to his mother, Ann Mqueen Foley and his father, William II Foley, the well known Captain of the White Star Line fleet alongside that of Captain Edward Smith who was Captain of the Teutonic in 1889. With his father being Captain of one of the most famous ships of White Star Line's time, the Teutonic, he didn't have much of a childhood with his father at the age of two and three. While his father captained the Teutonic, Edward Smith commanded her sister ship, the Majestic. With his father gone, Phillip was given what normal children of his statures would be given. He was sent to a private school and quickly began to pick up on business classes. Being one of the smartest of his classes and a very dependable business man, it was only a matter of time before he returned to his moors. Despite all the fine classes and fair party attended with his mother, at the age of 16 he left with his father to board his first ship and become apart of the royal navy. The Baltic. The Baltic had been commanded by Edward Smith before the likes of the Adriatic came into view, needing a Captain. With his father in command, Phillip began working his way up in ranks among the White Star Line with years of hard work under his belt. Soon word came from his father that the shipyard was being built to accomdate the biggest ships in White Star Line history. Naturally, his father opted for the chance to sail upon the newest and biggest ships of their time but it was soon said that Smith was to be Captain once the ship was finished, picked by Mr. Ismay himself since he had given the rest of the White Star Line's ships their maiden voyage. At the age of 20, while his father had taken the likes of another ship, leaving Phillip to make way on his own through his own works, he gained a high stature through the Lines becoming one of the youngest naval officers alongside Lightoller. He soon gained the title of commander of the SS Majestic, once Smith's ship but now living within the shadow of the Teutonic (the ship his father sailed) when the ship's life was going down hill. On his first trip on board the Majestic as an up-and-coming officer, the ship suffered a fire within the bunker but the damage was not significant and he continued as captain for the following years. In 1907, at the age of 22 White Star's main terminal was moved from Liverpool to Southampton and, on 26 June, the Majestic sailed from these new facilities for the first time still under his command though the ship was faltering under it's title. Though his ship wasn't the most famous, Phillip had gained his fame among those he traveled with at sea and on land. Often being invited to lavishing dinner parties by the passengers and fellow officers. Even Ismay himself. When the Olympic entered service in 1911, Captain Edward Smith taking over, Majestic's sister Teutonic was removed from the New York run and put on Canadian service with the Dominion Line. His father retired. Likewise when Titanic came on the scene in 1912 Majestic was retired from White Star's New York service and designated as a reserve ship, biding her time at Birkenhead's Bidston Dock. It was then when Phillip, 27, made his move for the two most famous ships in history, feeling threatened after his own had been removed. Upon hearing the retirement plans of Captain Smith, being urged along by his own father, Phillip proposed to Ismay and Andrews about taking over the Titanic's command after long years served on the line as a promising commander of the Majestic. After months of awaiting his final answer and upon the return of Titanic's maiden voyage, Phillip became Captain of the biggest ship of all time.
